5 Reasons to Eat Meat- Why I am a Non-Vegetarian?

If you are one of those who think that human beings SHOULD not eat meat (red meat in particular), I am listing down my top 5 reasons to eat meat today, backed by some scientifically proven facts.
Reasons for eating meat
I recently read in a medical journal that eating meat increases the chances of a premature death by 13%. And that eating red meat does so by 21%. This report led me to talking to a few food and nutrition experts from various corners of the globe. Today, I am sharing what I learned in the course of my conversation with these experts here with my readers. Read the meat facts listed below:

My Reasons to Eat Meat

I am sharing with MY readers my reasons to eat meat here.
Reasons for eating meat
  1. Men are basically hunter-gatherers and have eaten meat
Human beings have been on this earth for billions of years. But, they learned to grow and cultivate food grains only a few thousand years back. He survived as a hunter- gatherer for many many centuries. And, happily so!
The prehistoric man lived mainly on a diet consisting of meat, fish, nuts, fruits and vegetables and. For this reason, human beings have an alimentary canal which has, over the course of these millennia, adapted itself to these food habits. It is for this very reason that people who go back to the paleo diet (a diet consisting only of the foods mentioned above) are fitter and healthier than most others around them.
If it was that good for our ancestors and nourished them, how can it be bad for us? The people who virtually LIVED on it had not heard of cancers, heart diseases, blood pressure and cholesterol because they benefited tremendously from the essential nutrients present in abundance in meat.
2. Meat is laden with nutrients.
Meat is a very rich source of proteins and of Vitamin D (which helps prevent osteoporosis) and other vitamins like B1, B2, B6, B12 and niacin.
Meat Nutrition facts
Red meat, with 2.7mg iron per 100g of it, is an extremely rich source of iron. And we all know that deficiency of iron in our body can lead to anemia- a deficiency disease which severely affects the ability of the body to transport oxygen to the other parts of the body.
Because of its rich iron content, meat is particularly good for women because almost 75% of the women across the globe are anemic. Increasing the intake of red meat in such women can help them get rid of anemia. Besides, the zinc present in it is good for bone health and for cell replenishment. Another vital mineral present in meat in abundant quantities is selenium.
Meat is one of the most calorie dense foods known to us.
3. Meat tastes great!!
Meat can add flavor and pep up a boring, bland menu consisting of tofu, beans and stuff like that within no time.
Meat being a rich source of proteins has a higher satiety value than carbohydrates and fat. A 50 gram serving of meat is much more satisfying than the same amount of, say, bread. This makes it an excellent choice of food for those on a diet, provided they take care to pick up leaner cuts of it.
Why I am a non-vegetarian
A 70-80 gram helping of meat is a lot healthier than a pastry. Much more filling and less fattening too!
I have nothing against vegetables. I love beans, capsicum, cucumbers, cabbage and carrots besides a lot of other stuff.
But then, THAT is not reason enough for me not to like meat.
4. I hate Size ZERO!
Yes. That is another reason for eating meat.
If you deprive your body of meat, it is going to struggle to get a decent amount of protein which is the MOST essential nutrient required by us for building up some muscle.
I hope all the aspiring bodybuilders out there get my message loud and clear!
Giving up on meat means an increased dependence on carbohydrates and fats which will only help make you obese. And not muscular, as you would like to be.
You do get to hear of a few odd medal winning athletes who are vegetarian or vegans these days. But just try and search Google for an athlete or a bodybuilder who has been a complete vegetarian ALL of his life!
meat builds up stamina
If you come across a few names, please do mention them here because more than forty minutes of frantic search over the internet failed to give me any names at all. :)
So, unless all the girls want to look like those malnourished models up on the ramp and the boys want to look like a bag of bones, there is no reason for them to give up on meat.
I hate size zero
So, that is yet another argument in support of non-vegetarianism.
 5. Vegetarian stuff is just as capable of giving you cancer!
It is indeed distressing to see a handful of vegetarians launch a tirade against meat by saying that eating flesh causes cancer.
It seems that these days everything causes cancer! Why, then, single out meat?
I mean, how can they ignore pesticide laden vegetables and fruits which we eat thinking that they are healthy for us?
I would want to ask all those who go blah blah blah about food beginning to decay in the intestines and stuff- how do you explain eating refined flour and white bread? Aren’t they totally vegetarian?
What all can you give up, and for how long?
Unless you are willing to opt for a back-to-the-basics paleo lifestyle, you cannot be sure of not risking yourself to cancer even if you are completely vegetarian!
If everything causes cancer, why single out meat ONLY?
Unless you know how much to eat, and what meat is best for you, I see no health grounds for giving up meat or for going vegetarian.

Conclusion

I am sure I have raked up a controversy there by listing my reasons to eat meat.
All those of you do not agree with me are welcome to write back to us too!
