4 Easy Ways to Stay Healthy on Campus

4 Easy Ways to Stay Healthy on Campus

It’s the last day of August, so by now you’ve either completed your first week of the fall semester or are just about to start. Whether you’re a returning upperclassman or a first year student experiencing college life for the first time, living on campus presents a whole new set of challenges to face on a daily basis.
Living on campus can be a tough transition from the comforts of home for many students, and, even if you’ve lived on campus before, getting back into the routine of things after a long summer break can be just as challenging.
As young adults with few health concerns to worry about, we often take our good health for granted and can easily succumb to unhealthy habits notoriously common among college students. But it’s so important to keep an eye on your health – not only for your well being now, but for the future as well. Read on below for 4 easy ways to maintain good health on campus all semester long.

1. Get Enough Shut Eye

Unfortunately, college life and sleep deprivation often go hand in hand. Juggling a busy schedule packed with classes, study time, activities, and socializing can be a tough task to tackle, and somehow, getting adequate sleep is often left out of the picture.
Time management is a skill that you will need to master to keep up with the many demands of college life, but make sure you don’t skimp on sleep in order to make room for everything. Lack of sleep drastically impairs our mood, energy levels, memory, and ability to focus and concentrate, and therefore substantially hinders academic performance.
Sleep is one of the most important things the body and mind need in order to function properly so make sure you schedule at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night as a top priority.
To help make your home away from home as comfortable as possible,

7 Foods You Should Not Touch After a Workout if You Want to Lose Weight

Have you ever thought why you are not getting to see visible results even after starving yourselves to death?
Why you are unable to shed weight even after a tough exercise regimen?
Why you still don’t fit in those old clothes even after working out like crazy?
Well, it has now been proved that what you eat immediately after a workout is more important than what you eat off and on during the day.

What Not to Eat After Workout?

what not to eat after workout
Nutrition experts have pointed out that a post exercise meal should ideally consist of:
  • Some protein
  • Complex carbohydrates, and
  • Some water.
Recent researches have clearly proved that the glucose in the body gets used up during a workout. So, immediately after you have run a mile or done those grueling sit-ups, push-ups and weights, etc, you need to pop up some foods which will help raise the level of sugar in your body.

7 Weight Loss Equipments Which Are Not Worth Your Time and Money

Weight loss equipments are selling like proverbial hotcakes over Tele shopping networks, internet and in the market due to a mad race to shed weight for good, without having to work too hard or curbing the calorie intake.
Many such machines and gadgets ‘guarantee’ you inch loss and weight loss and have testimonials from ‘satisfied’ (:P) customers who often succeed in selling worthless stuff to the size-zero obsessed generation.

7 Useless Weight Loss Equipments

Here is a list of  seven most useless and worthless weight loss equipments:

1.  Sauna Belts

useless weight loss equipments sauna belts
You will get to see umpteen ads about sauna belts over the various TV channels an at numerous places all over the internet. Often pitched as “the easiest way to lose belly fat fast”, this is one piece of equipment which is totally useless.

7 Reasons Not To Drink Milk- Is Milk Bad For Your Health?

I remember secretly emptying my glass of milk down the bathroom sink as a kid, just because my mom would have me drink it THREE times a day even when I was 15 years old!
And that was because she was so convinced that it was (for her, it still IS) the most complete food. Laden with all the nutrients, proteins, calcium, et al that a growing child needs.
And I don’t entirely blame her for thinking the way she did. She had probably been conditioned into believing so by HER mom, and so forth.
Milk, to most of us, is more than just a drink. It is more of a cultural phenomenon, if I can call it one!!
Everyone seems to be so proud to flaunt off that milk moustache.
But then, Is milk BAD for your health?
Or, Is milk healthy?
I am sure it is as difficult for you and me to digest the fact that milk is NOT actually as healthy for you as you would like to believe as it was for our ancestors many hundred years back to believe that the Earth is round and not flat.
And you know why they found it difficult to believe that?
Because for hundreds and hundreds of years, they had believed that the Earth is flat.
The fact that it did not LOOK round to the naked eye made it all the more difficult for them to swallow the truth.
Facts on milk
Similarly, we have been brought up thinking that milk is the epitome of a perfect food.
A complete package, a balanced food, a health laden drink- anything you’d want it to be, in short!
Most physicians will also have you believe that milk and dairy are indeed very healthy for you.
Sadly for all of us, that is not the truth.
