Ask CF Question

Hi CF,
I’m doing summer school this year! Could you post some suggestions on staying cool, fashionable, and school-appropriate? Thanks!
Sincerely,
Melting as I Study

Our Response

Dear Melting,
Summer dressing can be difficult when you’re dealing with hot weather, yet still want to look pulled-together and appropriate. To do this, I recommend wearing light and breathable fabrics.
To keep your look school-appropriate, stick to hemlines that are not too revealing (read: steer clear of Daisy Duke-style shorts). There are many options that will help you do this, such as fabric shorts that hit lower on the thigh or even a loose pair of pants in a lightweight fabric like the photo featured in the middle above.
I have created a few summer school day looks below to use to get your creative juices flowing. I hope you find them helpful and good luck in your summer classes!
Sincerely,
Jessica

Outfit 1

For an easy and cool outfit for summer school days, pair a simple white tee with black lace shorts. Next, add on pretty accessories like a gold bracelet and necklace. Finish with teal accents, like this fun printed backpack and wedge sandals.

Outfit 2

Another option for hot summer school days is a printed sundress. I especially love this blue one for summer because it is no-hassle and easy to wear. Add on some fun yellow statement sunnies, a silver bangle, and white sandals. Complete the look with a versatile neutral-colored handbag.

Outfit 3

Another good way to keep cool for summer school is to try a romper, like the hunter green one pictured above. Since the piece is just a solid color, try adding on fun accessories like a panama hat, floral bag, and fringe sandals for extra interest. Finish with some aviator sunnies.
