hitting the snooze button too many times), stumble into your closet, and
have no idea what to wear? Our new series, Easy Outfit Formulas,
is here to help! Every other week, I’ll feature two items (which you
probably already own) that can be paired into outfits for those days
when you need some quick and easy inspiration.
This week, the focus is on
Little White Dresses (or LWDs) and
espadrilles – two classic, timeless summer pieces that you can keep in your closet for years to come.

This ensemble would be perfect for an internship at a casual office.
Just start with a white shirtdress (this sleeveless one would be good
for warmer days) and a pair of comfy wedge espadrilles in a floral
print. A striped cardigan will keep your look modest, and a leather
satchel will hold all your essentials on the way to work. Stick to
delicate gold jewelry and a light pink nail polish to keep this cute
look office-appropriate.
For a more casual take on the look, start with a trendy a white dress
that boasts embroidery, lace, or eyelet embellishments. Next, slip on a
distressed denim vest and a pair of woven espadrille flats in an
eye-catching print. A black crossbody bag with interesting details is
perfect for a weekend errand run. To finish the look, paint your nails
in a contrasting color (like this pretty lavender shade), then add
simple studs and a cute locket necklace.
The white-dress-and-espadrilles combo also works great for nighttime,
whether you’re headed to a girls’ night out or a fancy date. Pick a
white dress with some interesting touches (this one has cutouts in the
back) and a pair of metallic wedge espadrilles for the base of the
outfit. Add some flair with these gold lightning bolt earrings and
pastel bangles. Try styling your hair down in loose, flowy waves for a
summery look. And don’t forget a studded mint clutch before you leave
